Games Sixes Are the Best

We’ve got two season-saving Game 6s on tap tonight, with both Detroit and the LA Clippers facing elimination on their home floors. And let me just say—Game 6s are my favorite.

By now, the teams know each other inside and out, the underdog feeds off their home crowd, and the energy is electric because everyone senses we might be heading to Game 7. (Seriously, MLB—let’s shift to the 2-2-1-1-1 format.)

Today's TV Games

  • New York Knicks @ Detroit Pistons – TNT/Max
  • Denver Nuggets @ LA Clippers – TNT/Max

Tonight's Pick 10 (7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT)

New York @ Detroit

Detroit has gotten two massive wins on the road, but now they face their biggest test yet—winning at home, something they haven’t done in the playoffs since 2008.  It’s a huge psychological hurdle, but the momentum is real. Monitor Isaiah Stewart’s availability on social media before tip—he was at shootaround this morning—and check on Jalen Brunson’s injury status, which will impact New York’s offensive rhythm.  For the Knicks to close it out, Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns must lead from the front. For Detroit, it’s all about continuing their gritty performances and letting Cade Cunningham take control.

  1. Karl-Anthony Towns – Over/Under 23.5 points
  2. Jalen Brunson – Over/Under 7.5 assists
  3. OG Anunoby – Over/Under 1.5 turnovers
  4. Cade Cunningham – Over/Under 26.5 points
  5. Jalen Duren – Over/Under 12.5 rebounds
  6. Tim Hardaway Jr. – Over/Under 2.5 3-pointers made

Denver @ LA Clippers

The honest answer to predicting this series? Who knows. Each team has alternated between dominance and struggle, and consistency has been elusive.  Both squads are running tight rotations, meaning every decision, substitution, and foul will carry massive weight—especially with tired legs in the second half.  Watch to see if “The Wall” inside the Intuit Dome gives the Clippers a legitimate home-court edge—particularly when it comes to Denver’s free throw shooting.  It is what Steve Balmer paid for.

  1. Nikola Jokić – Over/Under 26.5 points
  2. Christian Braun – Over/Under 4.5 rebounds
  3. Kawhi Leonard – Over/Under 25.5 points
  4. James Harden – Over/Under 9.5 assists

Pick 5 Margin (10pm ET/7pm PT)

Denver @ LA Clippers

(See full game breakdown above)

  1. Jamal Murray – Points
  2. Nicola Jokić – Assists
  3. James Harden – Points

Houston @ Golden State (9pm ET/6pm PT Friday)

Houston dominated Game 5, leading wire-to-wire in a statement win. Now they head to San Francisco looking to force a Game 7.  Golden State’s Big 3 got valuable rest in Game 5, as the game was out of hand early. That rest—and Stephen Curry’s track record at home—suggests a bounce-back Game 6 is coming.  Houston has done a good job limiting stars and forcing the Warriors’ role players to take more shots. But Golden State’s veteran core and coaching staff will need to crack the code tonight to move on to a Monday date in Minnesota.

  1. Alperen Şengün – Rebounds
  2. Stephen Curry – 3-pointers made
