⚾️ Baseball is Back!
After a brief respite for most players—and a thrilling All-Star Game for the rest—the homestretch of the season begins today. We’ve got the trade deadline, the dog days of August, September call-ups, and then… the playoffs. Let’s get to it.
📺 Today's TV Games
- ⚾ San Francisco Giants @ Toronto Blue Jays – MLB Network
🎯 Pick'em 10 (7:07pm ET/4:07pm PT)
⚾ San Francisco @ Toronto
The Giants, currently sitting in 2nd place in the NL West, trail the Dodgers by six games. Unfortunately, they’re starting the second half of the season with Justin Verlander, who hasn’t won a game this year and owns an ERA creeping toward 5.00 over his last seven starts. Still, with rest from the break, Verlander has the potential to limit damage if he finds his rhythm. George Springer has had success against him, posting a 1.162 OPS in 17 at-bats, but otherwise Verlander has held most Toronto hitters in check.
On the other side, the Blue Jays send Chris Bassitt to the mound. Though his ERA sits at 4.76 over his last seven starts, he’s gone 4–1 in that span. Historically, only Rafael Devers (from his time in Boston) has hit him well. Both pitchers are beatable today—expect runners on base and plenty of scoring chances.
- Justin Verlander – Over/Under 5.5 hits allowed
- Rafael Devers – Over/Under 1.5 hits+runs+RBIs
- Heliot Ramos – Over/Under 1.5 hits+runs+RBIs
- Alejandro Kirk – Over/Under 1.5 hits+runs+RBIs
- George Springer – Over/Under 0.5 runs
- Bo Bichette – Over/Under 0.5 strikeouts
⚾ Milwaukee @ LA Dodgers
The Brewers head west to face the same Dodgers team they swept last week in Milwaukee. Tonight, Tyler Glasnowtakes the mound for LA in his second start since returning from the IL. His first outing? Against these very Brewers—5 IP, 5 Ks, 2 hits, 1 unearned run, and 3 walks. If he repeats that performance, the Dodgers will feel confident.
Quinn Priester faces LA with no previous experience against their lineup. He’s shown solid results lately with a 2.61 ERA over his last 7 starts and an improved strikeout rate over 9 Ks/9. However, his full-season ERA sits at 3.55, and his FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) is a less flattering 4.23. He’s also significantly worse on the road, with an ERA a full point higher and opponents batting .100 points better against him away from home.
- Jackson Churio – Over/Under 1.5 hits+runs+RBIs
- Caleb Durbin – Over/Under 0.5 hits
- Will Smith – Over/Under 1.5 hits+runs+RBIs
- Mookie Betts – Over/Under 0.5 runs
